Our survey amongst the Independent convenience store community across the UK last week has shown that they are being seriously impacted by the so-called “pingdemic.”

Some c-store retailers reported record-breaking Easter sales of up to +57% year-on-year. However, good fortune was not for everyone despite a period of warm weather; the general picture in April was more moderate.
Yet, average footfall increased by 0.9% (+0.1% like-for-like) year-on-year despite footfall in the Midlands and North of England dropping slightly (-1.1% and -0.2%) vs April 2018. All other regions continued to grow. Average basket £ spend remained the same as in March at £6.52 which is a 2.5% increase vs April 2018 on a like-for-like basis. Average daily sales per store increased by 2% vs March.
