Package Salary + Pension (3%), 4 x Salary Death in Service.
Hours 35 contracted hours or as required to complete the agreed objectives
Holiday 25 days holiday + bank holidays – increases with long service.  Holiday year runs from 1st January to 31st December,
Probationary Period 3 Months
Notice Period One week during the probationary period of 3 months, one month thereafter.
Bonus Bonus Scheme – General Staff Bonus.  Bonuses are non-contractual, not guaranteed and can be removed at TRDPs’ sole discretion.  Bonus payments are non-consolidated for all other contractual and non-contractual benefits including (but not limited to) pension and life assurance

 

 

Summary of Role To be responsible for testing activities as part of the software development team – minimising the risk of releasing software not fit for purpose or fundamentally flawed in its functionality. To work in a methodical, consistent way, creating new and using existing documented processes.
The Person Desirable

  • 3+ years working in a general IT Support field
  • ISTQB Foundation

Essential

  • Strong general educational qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience working in a software test environment
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on the company’s success
  • Ability to practice strong time management skills
Key Accountabilities
  • To test functionality of changes to existing systems, services or software functions (ensuring regression testing is undertaken at an appropriate level)
    • To help define standard processes and methodologies in testing, ensuring a consistent and reliable approach
    • To prepare test reports and relay these to relevant parties
    • To attend fortnightly bug / feature review meetings – reporting on new bugs, progress on eradicating known bugs and any other relevant information as defined by the software development manager
    • To understand TRDP systems sufficiently well to be able to recommend prioritisation of issues for resolution by the development team
    • To be sufficiently sceptical to test, check, verify changes as needed (and to challenge assumptions)
    • To create test data and support in the writing and execution of test scripts
    • To create defect reports in appropriate test management tools, whilst keeping in focus the need for a great user experience
    • To stay abreast of changes to software, ensuring that levels of testing are appropriate with the level of change
IT Competency Desirable:

  • Linux (Debian distribution)
  • Coding Scripting experience (particularly PERL)
  • Familiar with EPoS systems and services from experience working in the retail sector (preferably convenience)
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Knowledge of database (MySQL, MS SQL, Postgres, Redshift)
  • Experience scripting tests using Cypress
  • Knowledge of AWS System

Essential:

  • Exposure to formal test processes and methodologies
  • Experience writing unit tests using Javascript/Python
